MY RECIPE FOR A TRIDOSHIC FASTING KICHARI

In India when one starts a cleansing program it usually involve something called Kichari.  In is a simple mixture of mung bean dal and rice with specific seasonings to balance the body and the DOSHAS.  It is very easy for the body to digest and allows your digestion a chance to rest, relax and recharge.  I highly recommend this recipe as it is aimed for all three doshas, VATA, PITTA AND KAPHA doshas and is very healing for the body.....and delicious.

DIGESTIVE TRIDOSHIC KICHARI ( prep time 1 hour).

1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
2 tablespoons ghee
3 bay leaves
1 teaspoon coriander seeds
1/2 teaspoon tumeric
1/2 sea salt
1 stick kombu (optional)
1 teaspoon fresh ginger root
1/2 cup basmati rice
1/4 cup split mung dal
4-6 cups filtered water

Wash the rice and bean until water is clear.
Warm ghee in medium saucepan. Add the cumin seeds, bay, coriander. Brown slightly, until
aromatic. Stir tumeric, rice, and dal.  Add water, salt and kombu and ginger.  Simmer covered over medium heat until beans and rice are soft.

During a 21 cleanse in INDIA this is what you eat exclusively for the entire cleanse.  Try it for a day, a week, a month.  NAMASTE
